BPP to Partner with FUASK in Advancing Procurement Standards

The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia (FUASK), in promoting best practices in public procurement and enhancing institutional capacity in the sector.

This commitment was made by the Director General of BPP, Dr. Adebwale Adedakun, during a courtesy visit by the FUASK management team led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. William Barnabas Qurix, OFR, to the Bureau’s headquarters on Tuesday, 14th May 2025.

Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Adedakun congratulated Prof. Qurix on his well-deserved appointment as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of FUASK. He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing the university in what he described as a “high-impact location” with great potential for national development.

The Director General, who recalled his long-standing professional relationship with Prof. Qurix, especially during their collaboration in developing the procurement curriculum for the World Bank-funded Centers of Excellence, described him as a visionary academic leader. He emphasized that the Bureau is willing to support FUASK in areas such as academic programme development, capacity building, and staff training in procurement processes.

In his remarks, Prof. Qurix expressed gratitude to the Director General for receiving the delegation on short notice and lauded the Bureau's ongoing efforts in entrenching transparency and accountability in public procurement. He affirmed FUASK’s readiness to work closely with the BPP in promoting academic-industry linkages that will contribute to national development goals.

The visit marks the beginning of what both parties hope will be a productive and enduring partnership.
